author’s note — by my count, I’ve been alive at this writing 20,003 days, give or take a day or two. Common sense tells us that 1/7 of those were Mondays… 2857 and a half mondays… (a half? … guess that would be today, 2006-02-13)

When I was a kid, the first day of school was always a Tuesday. According to one of my high school teachers, a guy who was good for all kinds of improbable truths and inside stories (most of which I didn’t believe at the time but later found to be true), said that starting sessions on Tuesday was social engineering. They didn’t want to start kids off hating Mondays.Me, I think they were just wisely avoiding the double whammy.
