The tall gray man in the Blue Sedan

Notes:
Trying to trace this song as it develops – if it develops.
Right off the top I can tell I’m going to need to work to steer this clear of some sort of pulp conspiracy thriller pseudo drama.

Trying to trace this song as it develops – if it develops.
Right off the top I can tell I’m going to need to work to steer this clear of some sort of pulp conspiracy thriller pseudo drama.
I’m only just starting to dream (I just started to dream)
The devil is a matchmaker
The devil’s Matchmaker?
Red River Valley
public domain
From this valley they say you are goin’
I will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are takin’ the sunshine
That has brightened our pathway a while
For a long time my darlin’, I’m waiting
For the words that you never would say
And Alas my poor heart you’re breakin’
For they tell me you’re goin’ away
As you go to your home by the ocean
May you never forget those sweet hours
That we spent in the Red River Valley
And the love we exchanged mid the flowers
Come and sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the one that has loved you so true
They will bury me where we did wander
Near the hills where the daffodils grow.
For they say that you’re leaving our Valley,
and I can’t live without you I know.
[Do you think of the valley you’re leavin’
Oh, how lonely and dreary it will be
Do you think of the fond heart you’re breakin’
And the sadness you’ve cast over me]
Kitten, Kitten
I don’t understand
why you go cattin’ ’round
with some other man
scram ma’am jam lamb cram slam tam bam wham sham flam blam ram
[say… wait a sec… those are all ‘-an’ rhymes!]
[Perry Mason, TCoT Careless Kitten, ~43’50” – cfr my son, “Weavin’ and Wobblin'” – inspired by phrase earlier in the same episode approximately 33 minutes]
(recreate construction of an old song which isn’t in the song database yet and I don’t want to completely lose so here are reconstruction notes I suppose you might say)
I live my life
I fulfill my Dharma
that doesn’t mean my love isn’t true
I don’t mind being stuck in samsara
At least not as long
as I’m stuck here with you
6m 2m 4/5⁷ 6m \ 6m 2m 4⁷/3⁷ 6m
Weavin’ and wobblin’
‘tween demons and goblins
Havin’ problems walkin’ the line
Dizzy and fallin’
Up ‘gainst the wall and
Stallin’ for a little more time
2m 6m 2m 3⁷ \ 6m 2m 4⁷/3⁷ 6m
Rolling toward trouble
In a champagne bubble
Swimming through shimmering wine
Standing in the starlight
Dizzy as a bar fight
Spinning like a shiny new dime
Trying to bargain
Choices are stark and
Forever is a mighty long time
But where do you go
When there’s just nothing more
And you can’t tell yourself no more lies?
Ch…
Heads or tails –
How could it not fail
To land on its edge this one time?
Inside or out
Indecision or doubt
Frozen in this moment of time
Ch…
(Frozen in an instant of time)
************
Title phrase inspired by a line of dialogue in Perry Mason the case of the careless kitten approximately 33 minutes in.
(Some other possible inspirations in the case of the prudent prosecutor in the first 12 minutes or so including a reference to a female figure skater spinning around in lights as well as an earlier reference to swimming in champagne – so it kind of hooks up.)
My other song, “Kitten, Kitten, I Don’t Understand,” was also inspired by TCOT Careless Kitten, aprx 43′
